I think some of the responses hit a nerve with me. Teaching seems to be one of those professions that can absolutely suck the life out of a person. We need to be so many things to everyone and give of our time in
I wish we could just all do what is right for our own lives, have a separate adult life outside of school and not be criticized for not attending PTO/PTA meetings. I really work hard at staying away from those women! I look at myself as fighting for the vast majority of parents who trust us and don't try to interfere with meddling. Sorry if this offends you, but when I see a PTO lady serving a school where her children no longer attend, then I know she is serving with the right heart! I try to contribute to my school in my areas of strength, but have learned to say "no" to many things. Years of serving on worthless committees has taught me some wisdom. I've also seen teachers retire and be forgotten within one month. I wish you all a good life not having to worry about teaching 24/7! Work in an excellent way while you are there and get a good life outside of teaching. Connie
