1. I always read How I spent My Summer Vacation and have the children make a little suitcase that opens. They draw a pic. on the outside and then
3. I love the all about me posters from scholastic, we take a couple of days to do them and share it is a great way to get to know each other. (In my preschool letter I ask them to bring a picture) 4. We have a class pledge. I will read a book like Never spit on your shoes and we will go over the rules, etc., Then we recite the pledge, trace our hands and sign them and put them around it. Do a TON with the rules the first few days, I send home a contract also for parents and students to sign. 5. The book Nobody's Mother is in Second Grade is adorable. I read it and send home a really cute homework interview assignment. If you would like the questions I use, just email me. 6. The first journal the children do is to ask me two to three questions. The class loves this. I answer them in a group. They love getting to know you this way. 7. I begin my BEAR books the first day and explain it. (They are just like MOOSE books) Other books I like to sue the first day or first few days: First day Jitters, Listen Buddy and kangaroo goes to school. The best advice I can give is go over routines and rules as much as you can the first few days. Lori
