I'm not sure...

...if you are referring to my post on the Busy Board or not. I know there was another post about a Title One job. But, in case you are, I thought that I should comment. First of all, I taught in a Title One school last year.
I even shared a room with the Title 1 teacher. The year before that, I did a long term subbing assignment for a Title 1 teacher. So, I do have exposure to the environment, policies, etc. I was just curious as to what an interview would be like because the job is also for a coordinator, not just the instructor.

How did I get consideration for the job? Simple. I am a good teacher

with good references for one. My job was cut this year due to the budget, so my principal has been helpful in my job search. Plus, reading teachers are short around here. Not very many people are certified. In fact, you can get student loans paid back by getting reading certification.

Regular elementary jobs are not available in my area, so I am forced to seek other opportunities. The district I am interviewing in will pay for me to go to school to get the certification I need. I am a teacher who knows how to teach reading. I've taught remedial reading in summer school for two years. I am confident I could do the job, even though I'm not properly certified.

I'm sorry you are certified in a particular area and you aren't getting a job. I know the frustration! All I want is a regular elementary classroom, but that's just not possible now. So, I have to do what I can to keep doing what I love.

Anyway, this got longer than expected. My main point is that, in my area, reading teachers are hard to come by. So, districts hire teachers with experience in classrooms to teach reading. I may not have as many techniques as an actual reading teacher, but I certainly know how to help struggling readers and I can always learn more! If you are truely sick to your stomach over something like this, maybe you should move to Wisconsin. We need reading teachers.

Good luck in your job hunt. I hope you're not offended, I just wanted to clarify my situation. Of course, I can't speak for anyone else!
