6 traits is awesome!
By Chris

Clip to ScrapBook
Go to the nwel.org website, the founders of 6+1 Traits. They have great lesson plan ideas, and suggest picture books that aide in teaching each trait.

Get Ruth Culham's book 6+1 Traits of Writing, through amazon.com to start. Very reader-friendly, goes trait by trait, and plenty of minilesson ideas.

Get the 6 posters, one for each trait. scholastic.com has them and so does carson-dellosa.com - saw them in the brochures, not on the website

The 6 traits rubric is wonderful- gives specific feedback to students regarding areas of strength and weaknesses. Buy the post-its or a stamp so you don't have to keep writing each of the 6 traits on every student's paper.
