homework
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
As a rule of thumb, homework should be about 10 minutes per grade (so 4th grade would be 40 min.). I personally don't like to give a lot of homework (I teach 5th), but I do usually give math and some spelling, and of course any studying for tests. I also expect them to read every night, so that could be included in that time. My son was in 4th last year and he had about the same thing - math, spelling, and reading. He had a project each month that took some time, but not every night. We both thought it was a fair amount of homework for his grade.
