I agree with Ken. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders (not to mention a great attitude). I think the problem with a lot of my subbing peers is that they don't know their place in the education system. You are there to do what the teacher has laid out for you to do. Period. The admin is also in charge of us. Why do you need a planning period? I hope your reason is because you need the time to grade the papers that you have completed with the class that day. I am sure it is not because you want a coke.snack. I mean, last I checked, we were not required to submit lesson plans. Do you not get a lunch? Where I sub we also get an afternoon recess. By the way- Farm workers are usually working 10 hour days. That's why they get the breaks.
