Author a month

I teach first grade and we have an author a month. Each month I change our author bulletin board with a picture of that author, covers of books they have written, and any letters I might have received from them. Some authors we do are; Eric Carle, Patricia Polacco, Lois Ehlert, Marc Brown, Lio Lionni, Tomie dePaola, Jan Brett. During the last month of the school year, the students become the authors and write their own stories.
