Clip to ScrapBook
Choose authors that you can teach units based on their works! For example, during Christmas time, do Jan Brett, and use her books Gingerbread Baby and Night Before Christmas to teach learning goals. Also, Eric Carle is excellent! Use his books about small creatures for spring time in science units. Also, I don't think it is too early to expose children to the works of Laura Ingalls Wilder! They make picture books for smaller children now based on her work...in the fall you could choose some that pertain to harvest time, pull in Johnny Appleseed because he was also a pioneer of sorts...what a great question you asked!
