but, there's a blank section at the bottom; so, i have the kids draw a line to have a spot for spelling and "extra" the extra spot is really a reminder section for notes that need to be returned, test paper folders, field trip notices,etc. i also require it signed every night. if they don't have it signed for two nights in a row, they get a mark for behavior. but, the ones whom have had it signed all week are rewarded. good luck! maybe, your school could buy them, also? hint: if you do make yours, try tag board for the cover and back. you could also bind them using combs and a binding machine!
