Tangerine by Edward Bloor is in diary form... I am reading it now with 6th and 7th graders, though it has a 4th grade reading level, so depending on the maturity of your class it may be suitable. It appeals to boys and girls alike, which is nice, since it contains sports, friendships, and so much more! Also, Absolutely Noramal Chaos by Sharon Creech is in diary form and also very cute and funny.
