    Melissa,
Two things that help get a job are enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Those can even show in your first contact with a school district. From your message I wonder if you really don't want the teaching job (trying is a waste of time) or if you just need a little boost in self confidence. Appreciate your husband's positive support.I don't know why you were out of teaching for 3 years, family responsibiities, trying a different job, or have you been seriously searching for 3 years without success? I know here, even though the district tries to hire newer teachers because they cost less, there still is a feeling that maturity is a positive factor. Several teachers at our school took time out to raise their kids and are now teaching. Try to present your time out of teaching in a positive light, what have you accomplished, learned, what other experiences have you had that would bring value to you as a teacher?
