How about the top ten jobs that you'll be doing this year when you THOUGHT you'd be teaching...

Nurse: When you have a sick child who needs some love and comfort.

Judge: When you have to settle the argument over a sticker
between two first graders on the playground.
Comedian: When you see kids heads sagging on their desks and you know it's time to pull out something with pizazz.
Artist: When you have to pull all your art skills together to draw a picture of a cell so students can see what you are talking about.
Party Coordinator: When your students are all hyped up on Halloween sugar, you have

to keep the games rolling and the fun safe.

Secretary: You'd better get your communication and filing skills in top notch, cause when the top of your desk disappears you'll have to know how to find it again.

Veteranarian: You'll have to figure out if the class hamster is really sick or if someone just fed him M&M's again.

Custodian: You'll suddenly become interested in how to get permanent marker off desks, crayon off tables, and paint off the floor.

Meterologist: You'll have to predict weather to plan field trips, check temperatures to determine if you can go outside, and decide if you do need to take your umbrella.

and when that's all through.... you'll teach.

You could get a bunch of different hats and wear each one when you talk about how a teacher plays that role in the classroom and finish your speech with "As a teacher, you'll wear many hats but none more important than being a role model in the lives of children."
