Based on some of the stuff I've read in the postings from subs, I don't feel quite up to attacking that job right now. I've also heard more than a few horror stories from local substitutes. As for not dealing with adults too much, I've heard it's the opposite. As a sub, you're dependent on regular staff for info, materials, assistance, etc. They can be helpful but around here they tend to be a real nightmare. It's one thing to have a child act like a child and quite another to have an adult act like a child. I can deal with the former and not the latter. I don't think I've ever minimized how hard teaching can be and is BUT I don't ever remember hearing this many negative things about the profession. It's intimidating and a huge bummer to read alot of this stuff.
