Writing process
By Tricia

Clip to ScrapBook
My school has adopted a 5-step writing process that consists of a prewrite, rough draft, revising, editing and the final copy. During the revising and editing phase of the process, a student can meet with me to conference or, depending on the grade level, can meet with a peer to revise and edit. Most of the time, before a student writes the final copy I will meet with them to make sure that there are no huge errors.

I like the idea of creating a wall chart. You could use a large piece of poster board and velcro. Write each student name on an index card or strip of paper. When a student is ready to progress to the next stage of the writing process, he/she can go and move their name to the next step.
