What great suggestions!! I got several I want to use--and I've been teaching over 20 years!! I LOVE the idea of the "giving tree." I can't add much here except to encourage you to be prepared with your packet and information
so that you can (as a "young-looking" teacher that wants to appear more mature)come across as competent and organized to the parents, but basically just relax. The main objective of this is generally to let the students feel familiar with their new surroundings and to open the parent-teacher connection. I know you'll do well!

(I think the only thing I might suggest is that

if you use the apple poem, don't put an apostrophe in parents. I say that not to be critical--I make plenty of typos myself on this site--but sometimes parents (particularly more well-to-do ones) do notice that kind of error.)
