Morning Activities
By Chris

Clip to ScrapBook
Last year I always had morning work on their desk when they arrived at school and it worked out well while I greeted students and got attendance and lunch count done. It usually consisted of a spelling or math activity that
needed very little instruction. I had them do word finds using their spelling words and they loved it. I also created a sheet where they had to cut and paste their spelling words together. The math was usually reinforcing a skill already taught. I also used a book to make copies from that was called Easy Sentence Writing and it had an illustration and they had to write sentences about
it. I felt like this really gave them the extra help in learning to write a sentence. Later in the year I did more of the daily oral language. In the very beginning, I used handwriting and fill in the abc order and color words. Some kids are really good at figuring things out without directions and will help the others. I never gave them hard work or something I was taking a grade on. I hope this helps.
