social studies books
By Michele

Clip to ScrapBook
Can you clarify? Why do you need a social studies book a week. Are you talking about books YOU read to the kids, resource books, or thematic unit books?

I usually do a mini unit (maybe 1 hour a day for 1 week) about Presidents Day, Martin LUther King Jr. Day, Veterans Day etc. Then I do a Responsibility of Citizenship in the fall (kids are citizens oin our room) and a Pilgrim/Native American unit in November. That's about it I think. In first grade we really focus on teaching reading, writing, and math basics.
