Clip to ScrapBook
The people I know who have quit have done it because of a lack of resources (time, money, support) to make their teaching successful. There is such a lack of necessary support in the form of enough teachers, counselors, nurses, aides, etc. that our kids (esp. those at the upper and lower end of the academic spectrum) are not being served adequately. Most teachers that I know are very "deep feelers". We internalize the frustrations we experience at school because for most of us our jobs are more than just jobs; they are part of what makes us who we are. We feel very strongly about what needs to be done to make our students successful. When we don't have the resources to achieve this, some people opt out.
