I don't use point w/ my kids. I had pretty much on level readers and I gave them a goal and a day for the first quarter. Whoever met this goal, I would reward. (whether it be a popcorn party, pizza party, or something else) The kids really enjoyed this and every quarter a new goal was set. We read the most books in our school and their reading improved a lot. Good Luck!
