Clip to ScrapBook
Patriotic week--create a large American flag using hand prints for the stars and stripes.

Make a construction paper kite and write on it what it means to be free. Decorate, add streamers, and a yarn tail.

CAMPING/NATURE
theme--go on a scavenger hunt.

Do leaf rubbings.

Create an animal on paper using only items from a nature walk (leaves, pine cones, straw...whatever).

Have a weinie roast and make s'mores.

Plant rye grass seed in a clear cup. Decorate the cup as a self portrait. The grass will grow into hair.

WESTERN theme--sing campfire songs (Example: Home on the Range)

I can't think

of western things right now.

SCIENCE--make goo.

Use modeling clay to create a boat. See how many pennies it will hold before sinking in water. Who's holds the most? Why?

Create tornadoes in a bottle (need 2 two liter bottles)

Study and graph the weather each day.

BEACH/OCEAN--make an underwater collage using meat packing trays and blue cellophane. Use construction paper to cut out underwater things to glue onto meat tray. Also you can hang items from the top with fishing line to make it look more 3-D.

Build sand castles.

Play frisbee or volleyball.

Have water day where the kids get wet all day in baby pools and Slip n' Slide type things, eat watermelon, have water balloon fights, etc.

CARNIVAL theme--Make little booths to go to...ring toss, fishing pond, pop the balloon with darts, knock the bottles down, etc.

Make cardboard animal cutouts with open mouths---toss the ban bag through the animal's mouth to win.

Have the kids make these booths and games.

MEDIEVAL theme--Have costumes to dress in.

Teach them to juggle (be jesters).

Jousting with plastic swords.

LUAU theme--learn all about Hawaii.

Make flower leis using either real flowers on fishing line or cut out and decorate paper flowers to thread onto string.

Make a hula skirt from cut butcher paper.

Make a volcano.

Learn to dance the hula.

Play with hula hoops!

Pretend to surf.

Good luck! This sounds like a fun-filled adventure!
