"clean desks"

There were two things I did this year to keep the desks clean. I would put a piece of candy on my students desks that were neat and tidy for them to find in the morning. They really liked coming in in the morning and finding a smartie or small tootsie pop on the desk.
To change it from time to time I would place a late assignment pass on the desk. If they didn't finish an assignment on time they could turn it in one day late without penalty. Some of them really liked this especially those that had dance lessons or played a sport. Just some of the things I did to keep my students a little bit more organized.
