"5th grade is wonderful"
By Tabitha/5th

Clip to ScrapBook
This coming year will be my 5th year teaching 5th grade. They are a great age to teach and they still for the most part want to please the teacher. Make sure that you have all your procedures and routines listed on poster
boards and in a packet to go home. That means everything from homework, bathroom breaks, coming in in the morning, to leaving at the end of the day. Go over them constantly for the first three to four weeks of school. Make sure the kids know what you expect from them and that they will have consequences if they don't do what is expected. I have a Class Code of Conduct, a reward chart, and
a consequences chart. I go over each one the first day of school and I have them and their parents sign the class code of conduct and return it to me.
Most of all enjoy them and don't be afraid of them. They can get attitudes and be unrulely at times, but by showing them who's the boss and doing it with love and respect they will love you forever. If you need any help please feel free to email me. I am always willing to help a fellow teacher out.
