you can't win
By Marsha

Clip to ScrapBook
This whole system of testing is a no-win situation for teachers. Our jobs are in jeopardy over scores that we do not have control over. I asked why a child's "gain" was ignored in favor of a grade-equivalency score. I was told it would be too difficult to process/compare scores that way. So teachers worry and stress. I had a child advance 3+ grade levels in both reading and math, but for nothing....she still scored as a beginning 4th grader by the test. I have stopped letting scores frustrate me, but I do feel for those of you whose jobs are threatened. No wonder teachers are fleeing the profession.
