Oh my God! I laughed when I read the original post because it could have been written by me! I am constantly reading childrens' lit.- many of the titles I have heard from this list. Some of my all time favorites:
Hope Was Here- Joan Bauer (also the author of Squashed, Rules of the Road)
Homeless Bird- Gloria Whelan
Jerry Spinelli- anything! (Maniac Magee, Crash Stargirl, Loser)
Sharon Creech- Walk Two Moons, Absolutely Normal Chaos, Love That Dog)
A Corner of the Universe- Ann M. Martin- absolutely fabulous!
Pictures of Hollis Woods- amazing!
