Clip to ScrapBook
I had several autistic children mainstreamed in my classroom over the course of several years. Our sp.ed. teacher always made a point to come to the class and tell my students what sorts of things the particular child might do - as far as making loud noises or rocking, and explained what the kids could do to make her feel welcome- like no touching, but saying good morning and helping her get her things together, etc... I really saw a difference with my children in how they reacted to her and the love and respect that comes with understanding! The parents of the child were sooo appreciative of how my students treated her, they cried at the IEP... it was wonderful! Best of luck and God bless you for what you do! Not many of us could!!
