Clip to ScrapBook
Before I started centers in my room, I taught each individual center as a whole class lesson. This took over a week, but was well worth it. For example, I taught making words, reading around the room, vocabulary memory, silent reading, pocket chart time, etc. as a whole group. Some of these I needed to do in 2 days. I set up the "center schedule" but did NOT have a group to meet with until the kids could do this on their own. We practiced "rotating from center to center" quietly and I designated messengers frome each group. Once they knew HOW to do the center, we were home free. =) Good luck!
