I didn't read all the article that you posted but here's my take. I got my degree K-8 (emphasis K-4) at MTSU and six years ago. I teach in elementary. I also got my master's degree last summer. What I understand is that the middle school teachers have to either have a degree in their subject (ex. Math) or they have to take a test to see if they qualify by I think 2006. If they do not pass the test by then, it is my understanding that thye have to get a degree in the subject they wish to teach. This is what we have been told.
