The most important thing to know about EM is that it is a "spiral" approach and it can only work in a school if all teachers are actually using it. Our school has had the program for about 5 years now and our staff is torn between loving it or hating it. As someone said earlier, it is something that is pretty time consuming and has to be supplimented with a lot of basic computations skills so that students master all areas of math. EM focuses more on higher order thinking skills for the most part.
