typing skills
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I just purchased a cute program called Read, Write and Type. It's put out by Learning Company. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with Windows XP which is what I have at home. At work I should be able to use it with our
older machines. It was written for students in Pre-K to grade 2. It teaches where the fingers go, teaches letter names and sounds and gives students practice using short, fun games. I haven't had a chance to review the whole game, but what I saw looked great.

My personal kids learned to type on an old Atari 800 (it wasn't old back then) with a game in which they "shot down" letters

and words that were trying to attach their mother ship. Of course it's not available anymore, but it sure was fun for them. Sometimes the old games are really the best.
