I assume that the child has an IEP, and I assume he/she will get Resource services? This could be up to 3 periods/day in or out of the classroom. If a child has a label of Autistic, they will most certainly get at least Itinerant services from a specialist. I would take a look at the IEP and start asking some questions as to how he/she will be served and who will be responsible for his IEP goals. Look to see what label is listed on the IEP, Other Health Impared, Autistic,PDD,EMD or other... You will want to talk to the teacher that had him last year (what works, what doesn't). After you have done all this research, you can then begin planning your year.
