Clip to ScrapBook
I'm teaching reading for 2 hrs a day in summer school right now myself. I am doing a real mix of things. First of all, for most kids, non fiction is the biggest challenge, so I'm trying to bring in a lot of that. I've
found some great articles on the howstuffworks website, that I'm coming up w/ ques. for . It's a bit high level. Also, I've gone through lots of other resource books I've ignored during the year, pulling non fiction from them as well. We are also reading James and the Giant Peach and doing work w/ vocab. and questions. I have a collection of passages devoted to teaching different skills
(inferencing, cause & effect, prediction, main idea, etc.) and we are doing some things with those. They are also responding to what they've read in writing daily.
Unfortunately, this doesn't give you a quick "use this" solution, but maybe some ideas??
Good luck!
