Turtle Theme
By Tracci

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello. I teach fourth grade. Last year (my 2nd year teaching), I did a turtle theme (I might use it again this year). I had the student's names on turtle shaped paper. The board said "Welcome to our Shell". I bought a cute
job board from Holcombs with a big turtle, small turtles (to write names on). The trophies are what you write the jobs on. I have a reading pond. I also incorporated frogs into my classroom. Frog items are usually easier to find. I also bought a turtle windsock to hang above my desk. I made "Turtle-rific" coupons for good behavior. The students can turn these in for candy, sit by a
friend, etc. I hope more turtle stuff comes out before the school year. If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Oh, I also had the art teacher draw a big picture of a turtle. I had the kids (on the first day of school last year), design their own nametag to go on the turtle (to make up it's shell). I cut index cards in half for this. Good luck and have fun. You can also incorporate ladybugs and butterflies into a turtle theme, I did! Tracci
