I've actually refined my process since I wrote last...I use Microsoft Excell to make a grid sheet that is 3 boxes wide by 5 boxes long. I type the Dolch sight words that the child is currently working on in the boxes.
At parent teacher conference time I pull out these sheets and show parents the progress or lack of progress their child has made. If it is lack of progress I use this time to question parents about how they help their child to learn these words...I have found out that often the parents don't actually know how to help thier child study...and then I can give suggestions to the parents...that has been quite successful and when I have done that the progress picks up. Hope that is what you were looking for...I also make bingo games out of the words...and on Fridays we'll play bingo for part of reading...that really motivates them to learn the words because we use M & M's for bingo chips so they get to eat them when they get a bingo!
