Keep remembering: You are a GREAT teacher.

I like Buzy Bee idea for state history. If I might add: Let kids make a scrapebook ( class or individual). Writing lesson: write to your state tourist office. Reasearch: choose one of famous spots and not-so-famous spots in your state to write a report on. Field trip: encourage students to bring cameras (have a class camera,you could make prints for those who can't bring camera), take pictures and to scrapebook with a brief summary of the pictures.
Rock collections.
In our class we take a cardboard box and turn it into an actual -lighted- house for electricity.

Just let your mind go wild and explore the internet.
