my praise vent
By Danielle

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a good praise vent to share also. I have been working in a very small, poor, private school for the last 3 years. In May, I earned my Master's degree in Elem. Ed. Our volunteer "principal" told me that the board
and PTL wanted to have a reception for me in honor of my graduation (not all of the teacher's at my school are certified, so being certified and earning my Master's degree is a pretty big deal there). I invited my parents from out of town and they came to a very lovely brunch. The school board president called my name and had me stand up. Then when I sat down, another school board member
got up and gushed about our volunteer principal for about 5 minutes and, I kid you not, SANG A SONG TO HER!!! (It was like a Carpenters or Barbra Streisand song or something). My mother actually leaned over and said, "Are we in a soap opera?" That's how cheesy - TV movie-ish the situation was. The rest of the "reception" was for this woman. She honestly planned and organized this party for herself and then tricked me into inviting my family so that she could show off how devoted/sacrificing/great she is. And unfortunately, it's come after a year of her finding every chance possible to talk about herself, so it was a nauseating final straw!
