A salad is made up of a variety of vegetables...lettuce is always lettuce, a radish is a radish, a tomatoe is a tomato. All of these ingredients are unique and without them as a part of the salad that salad would not be the same! It would not be nearly as good if the variety wasn't there. The ingredients are not all melted together into one vegetable.

So the idea is that the varied cultures and races that make up America are what makes our country so unique. The diversity--variety--enhances and spices up our population.
