Katie,
Although it sounds tough, I have just finished a year with the same combination- high 2nd graders and low 3rd ( mostly resourced children). At first I really struggled with how best to group, teach diferent skills...
but it worked out wonderful and I can't wait to do it again! Tell me more about your school- we are title 1, and so I have the added help of a teacher that comes in and co-teaches math with me. I also encouraged our resurce teacher to come in and do my 3rd grader's resource timein the room with me (team-taught again)... Our state standards worked really well for the combo- my

2nd graders were just exposed to "3rd grade terms" as well as 2nd.... I use a lot of leveled reading, teach the Four Blocks Way... Let me know if you need any specifics!
