I agree, it's time that we stopped the treasure boxes, rewards charts, stickers and prizes! Teachers and parents have to stop rewarding children for doing what they are expected to do such as being quiet and doing their work. We all have good kids in class who continually do what's expected of them, but we have to reward the bad kids with prizes to get them to do what they should do. By giving rewards, the kids learn very early that if they act up first and then do what they should they will get a reward. Stick to your guns and don't give in to his mother. It's your classroom to manage as you choose.
