Conference with parents re: surprise allegation
By claritin

Clip to ScrapBook
What would be the most professional way to respond to your principal if he or she calls you in for a surprise conference with a parent and student regarding an allegation you are clueless about?

Imagine you are called in from the classroom intercom system -- first thing in the morning. Don't know why you are called in and feel pressured by a confrontational parent (who has a history). Your meeting with all these folks goes on without anyone supervising your arriving homeroom students.

Someone suggested that I politely say, "Is there something I need to be aware of so I can talk to the parents intelligently?" or ask if a conference can be scheduled at a more convenient time. Are there some other ideas, in case this happens again?
