Librarians
By Mrs. D.

Clip to ScrapBook
I am an elementary librarian. I taught 4th grade for 15 years before moving into the LMC. There is much to take care of in the library at the end of the school year. I can remember teaching and our past librarian not taking
students for a week or two before school started and closing the library down 2 or 3 weeks before the year ended. We seem to have no guidelines given to us (in my county) about opening and closing procedures, however I take students on the first day of school and have them until the last day of school. I try to reshelve books, complete inventory, replace needed books, withdraw old
and lost books, help with grade book and report card problems, take care of technology troubleshooting, beg students and teachers to bring back overdue books, send out overdue notices, and generally get the LMC in order for next year while still teaching LMC skills. The librarians don't have it as easy as you think. But some of us still cover your planning time...it seems like that is all you're worry about. Don't mean to be critical...but give me a break!!!
