Separating Groups of Second Graders
By teachingsecond

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach second and use the "special inner circle." Most students sit at tables arranged in a "U" shape while some are sitting on the outter-skirt with desks. Desk dwellers, usually those who couldn't work well with others or had problems staying focused, would beg to return to the inner circle, particularly during cooperative assignments or group games. They work to "earn" their way back to the circle. Most of the desk dwellers are not permanent, except one.
