I had a group of third graders with distant pen pals a few years ago. We made and exchanged a video. Both classes made a video of their school and neighborhood. We read a bunch of books on riddles and the kids each found a favorite riddle and then introduced themselves individually and told their riddle. We asked them about locally manufactured items, did anyone have a blanket from our well-known local woolen mill, or had they ever ridden on a Tilt O'Whirl carnival ride, manufactured locally? We included a list of the answers with the video tape. You might be able to tie in information from your local chamber of commerce or tourism office or things you could find on-line about your area.
