Actually and I hate to say this but it sounds like maybe you have things you need to work on. Constructive feedback is not always a bad thing. If "several" parents went to complain about you then maybe there are certain things
that you might want to work on.
I am not intending this to be mean... I am just saying that while you might have taught it before it doesnt mean we cant ALL get better.
As for the smiling comment, I work with a few people that rarly smile and it just seems as though they are very unhappy with their job. Maybe that is not the case but it could be a way that your principal was

asking you if your happy? just a thought.
Im NOT saying your a bad teacher, OR that you are unhappy..so please DONT get offending..I am simply suggesting that maybe your principal didnt mean harm in the feedback but actually was trying to help you become a better teacher.
Just a thought!
