RR
By Vanessa

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Sharon,

I have been in my current school district since September. I changed districts to be closer to where I live.

I was trained in a different district. The school I was tecahing at did not have a RR teacher. Myself
and the grade two teacher were both trained and each got to work with two children a year. The 1/2 daily covereage was made avaliable for us through the use of T.A's. It was great.

That would be ideal for me. To be able to teach a classroom and still to RR as well. I like tecahing a class preferably, however it is nice to work one on one with one child and still keep up with the

knowledge of what RR entails. There are schools in my new district who do have teachers who strictly do RR ( I am pretty sure). I know of one school anyway.

I would reccomend "Reading Recovery" and "The Observation Survey" by Marie Clay as these books were the foundation for my training and act as "Bibles" for the program.

I am so happy to have been given the training. I do miss working one on one with a child. However, like I said I do use the practices each day in my classroom (where is where I want to be). However, I feel that these skills are essential to any elementary teacher whether you are working in a one on one RR enviornment or not.

Good luck!! And I wish you all the best!! Let me know if you need anything else.

Vanessa
