Love "Love That Dog"!!!

I love that book! I just did a book talk with my 3rd and 4th grade students that come to the library. They were very interested in the poems shaped like the subject the poem was about - called a concrete poem ( I had to look that one up on the internet). They wanted to write their own poems and boy did they do a great job!! We printed them on the computer with colored paper and colored words and put them on the bulletin board for all to enjoy. This has sparked the students' interest in writing their own poetry. We also did some acrostic poems, and experiemented with haiku poetry.
Try it! I think you may be surprised by what they come up with!
