Stop beating up on yourself
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
Hey, two little kids under the age of 6 at home is a full time job for anyone. Never mind that your house isn't a showplace. Instead think about what you really want to do with your limited time. I had to make the same
decisions a few years ago. I waited until my youngest (of 3) was in second grade before going back into the classroom. Yes, I had a little guilt over those two years when all of them were in school and I was home but I used that time profitably by brushing up on my skills and volunteering in my kids' classrooms. The kids were more comfortable coming home to me than to a sitter or an
empty house. I was a relaxed, calm mom who spent her emotional energy on caring for her young kids instead of spending great chunks of it on my job. In saying all that I don't mean to offend those who chose to go back to work shortly after their children were born. Many moms can handle that kind of schedule, some need the money and some really, really need to get back to their jobs for their own sanity. It's just that, for me, staying home a few years was the right choice. You'll have to ask yourself what the right choice is for you - and stop feeling guilty (oh, I forgot - that's the definition of motherhood...)
