    1. PTO organizes a "Walk to the Park" once a yr. Children collect donations from community businesses and members. Parent's often solicit their bosses for company donations.(This really adds up). Requirements: Must have $5 in donations and a signed permission that states the child will be picked up by a set time.
As soon as the busses are gone, we group in classes, (many parent volunteers), & with police escort, we walk about a mile to one of the city parks. VFW usually foots the bill for koolaid and cookies (which room mothers are in charge of), about 15 min. to play, then it's time to go home! We make several thousand with this activity.

    2. Local McDonalds's are great supporters of schools. They donate many items for prizes.

    3. In our cafeteria, we have a "Reading Wall".
This room serves as a multipurpose room for many school functions. Parents love to see their child's name here. A large banner & criteria list is displayed for each certification area, as a student reaches that goal, name goes on banner. Teacher's are responsible for their class updates.

    4. Monthly we have a short awards assembly when special people (ball teams, cheerleaders, FFA, St. Council, BETA, etc., present AR, perfect att., St. of Mo., etc. awards. Students really look forward to this.

Qrtly, students go on a shopping spree. PTO has items sorted in bins (Dollar Store type)set up in our cafeteria, according to cost in points. PTO reps are there with a class roster and points available list, they handle the check out and keep track of points spent. Students spend their points or save them, whichever they choose.

Hope this provides some useful ideas.
