mentoring
By KT

Clip to ScrapBook
I also am mentoring a new teacher. Although my situation is not nearly as difficult, she does have some serious class management issues.I agree that this teacher needs to do some observations. You can explain that visits
are helpful to ALL teachers including veteran, good teachers to get new ideas, etc. Even better would be for you to do a demonstration lesson in her class with her students. Is there an area that she feels she needs input? If you can get her to tell you that, then you could focus on that area in your demo lesson. She will see that your approach and follow-up activities are effective with
her students. I also agree that the principal has a responsibility to take a more active role. Does his remediation plan have steps she is suppose to be following for improvement? Those would be focus areas too. Good luck-you are providing a very necessary service.
