I use the book The Jolly Postman but I leave out the part where he drinks the wine. It's about a postman who delievers letters, postcards and junk mail to fairy tale characters. You can pull out the mail from the envolope to read to the class. I use this book for K and they love to have me read the mail to them. As a follow up you could have them write letters to each other or to their parents and mail them. Hope this helps.
