Give it a try!
By Joy

Clip to ScrapBook
I think you should give it a try. It can be a very rewarding experience. When you host a student teacher, it really makes you think about your own teaching style, management, planning, organization of materials etc. You need
to be on top of everything you do in the classroom because you are in the spotlight. Every student teacher that you host will be different and each will bring new ideas to your classroom. It's always interesting to hear what new buzz words and strategies are being introduced in the colleges.

I like having a student teacher, because I feel like my students really benefit from the extra

set of hands and ears in the classroom. My students are always able to complete amazing projects and wonderful writing pieces when I host a student teacher. During the first few weeks of the placement, we team teach most subjects and gradually I give up one or two subjects each week until the student teacher is teaching all subjects. It works great that way!
